Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.

Not just for women. Not just for pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is truly all-encompassing and transformational. With no stone left unturned, with no body part being off-limits, the possibilities for improvement and recovery are endless.

Whole Body/Whole Person.

Common pelvic health issues are often driven by other areas of the body. So, not only will the muscles and fascia of the abdomen and pelvic floor be considered, but so will the rest of your body. Additionally, internal vaginal and rectal exams are a regular part of pelvic health appointments but they are not mandatory! You get to have a say in what we do in our sessions.

Real-Time Ultrasound.

RTUS is the gold-standard assessment tool for Diastasis Recti Abdominis (DRA) and is a highly accurate method for examining the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles and their pattern of engagement. With RTUS the bladder can also be imaged - giving real-time information on things like pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence and more. Depending on the strategy, either the abdomen or the external perineal area will be imaged - both are non-invasive techniques. RTUS is available in clinic with Elizabeth to assist in assessment, treatment and education.

Interdisciplinary Care

Expect consideration of all your signs and symptoms - including ones that you didn’t think to mention. Elizabeth works as a collaborative and active member of a team of healthcare providers and seeks to connect you to the right person in order to maximize the potential of improvement.

Examples:

  • An individual experiencing symptoms of burning and pain with sex may benefit from targeted (topical) hormone treatment. If this is a suspicion, Elizabeth will connect you with a care provider to discuss further and/or communicate directly with your family doctor or specialist.

  • Discomfort having a full bladder or pain with urination? Elizabeth is connected with a network of clinicians who are uniquely positioned to target the genitourinary microbiome which is thought to cause Interstitial Cystitis / Bladder Pain Syndrome.
